Kickstarter: Product

I'm all about clear communication that helps users get things done easily. That means ditching the jargon and crafting clear, concise, and compelling writing that packs a punch. As the sole content owner at Kickstarter, I improved the user experience by incorporating UX writing principles.

Highlights include:

  • "Back it because you believe in it."
I crafted the interface copy within the support module for project pages, encouraging backers to back projects to support an idea rather than solely for rewards, fostering a more supportive and engaged backer community.

  • Increased backer understanding by 55%
I improved understanding of project risks among backers by developing clearer user interface copy for the pledge flow. This messaging emphasized the non-guaranteed nature of project rewards, ensuring backers were fully informed before making a pledge.

Superlative Spotter Microcopy

The new feature alerts creators when they’re inserting superlatives or exaggerations like “World’s Best” into their project titles. It’s meant to warn creators when they are veering away from the principles of transparency and candor that Kickstarter finds essential. Our hope with this feature was to inspire creators across all categories to be as forthcoming as possible when building their projects.
